The UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council (UAE NMC) has recently held its second meeting on Thursday 26 April 2018 at Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Health Authority, University of Sharjah, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, and the Emirates Nursing Association and Emirates Medical Association. Chairpersons and coordinators of the scientific committees of the Council, Nursing directors and nurse leaders from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Abu Dhabi Health Authority, Dubai Health Authority and SEHA participated in the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council's activities and projects were presented. During the meeting, the Emirates Nursing Association announced of hosting the first regional conference of the International Nursing Council to be held in September in Abu Dhabi. The event will include a number of local and regional bodies representing nursing and midwifery. The conference will also allow the exchange of international expertise and the latest developments in the field of nursing care, maternal and child care and adolescent health.

During the meeting, topics related to the development of nursing, education, registration, licensing, research and specialization were reviewed. The main topics and activities of the council members were also presented.
The Committee of Specializations presented and discussed the new initiative of “MODEL FOR NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SPECIALIZATIONT” and circulated to be signed by the board members. The Scientific Committee for Research presented the provision of a special center for research in nursing and midwifery. The members agreed to these new proposals for the Council's committees and recommended make drafts on them.
The work team formed by the Scientific Council Committees to study the "Standards and Requirements for the Licensing of Practitioners of Health Professions" in the State (PQR) was also reviewed. It was agreed that the observations should be documented and approved by the Board members and then submitted to the concerned authorities.
At the end of the meeting, the members of the Council signed the issuance of the Scientific Committee for Specializations "Directory of Nursing Specialties". 

The Council meeting was concluded by forwarding recommendations relating to each field according to what was agreed upon.
