Approach: 

A survey questionnaire was distributed to nursing leaders in hospitals, primary health care centers, school health, preventive medicine, and leading nursing educators across the UAE. The questionnaire was circulated electronically; data was gathered and analyzed by the UAE Nursing and Midwifery Research Center Coordinator and reviewed with the Committee. 


Aims: 

This CSA sought to identify the following: 

1. Individuals and institutions currently engaged in nursing and midwifery research in the UAE to be included in a database for contact and connection purposes 
2. Areas of research focus among active researchers relative to topics of interest for nursing and midwifery 
3. Completed research that may be available for application and included in a research database 
4. Research underway in topics of interest to nursing and midwifery in the UAE 
5. Future plans for research 
6. Perceptions about research priorities for the Center’s strategic plan 
7. Perceptions about current capacity in nursing and midwifery research 
8. Perceptions about capacity and skill building needs 
9. Opportunities for partnering 


Timeline: 

The questionnaire was passed to the subjects from January 29 till February 29, 2013 and CSA findings were presented before the Planning Task Force.
